Classroom Procedures

End of Class/Exit Procedure:
-
The teacher will signify the ending of class, not the bell, nor the afternoon announcements.
-
When the end of class has been announced, students will pass there completed assignments up just as they would in the “Handing in papers” procedures.
-
Students will back up their materials quickly and quietly.
-
Once all students have packed up their belongings, the recycler will collect any usable paper or writing utensils that students have not packed up.
-
While remaining seated, students will pick up all trash and paper from around their desk.
-
The students will throw away any trash as they exit the room.
-

Students will line up by rows as called upon by the teacher.
-
During dismal, students will exit the room as their busses are called.
-

The class will exit when all students are quietly in a straight line.

Walking Down the Hall Way:
-
Students will remain in a straight line.
-
Students will walk on the right side of the hallway.
-
Students will remain quiet because other students may still be in class.
-
Students will keep the line tight so there are no large gaps between students

Answering Questions:
-
If students wish to answer a question, they will QUIETLY raise their hands.
-
Students will only answer questions when they are called upon.
-
If the questions require students come to the board, students will do so in a respectful manner. (Quiet, non disruptive, quickly)

If you are absent:
-
When you return to school, it is your responsibility to get the work/assignments that you have missed.
-
As soon as you return to class, contact the secretary for the assignments and notes that you missed. You will have 3 says to turn in the work you missed.
Entering Procedure:
-
Students will calmly enter the room quietly.
-
Students will sit in their assigned seat take out their materials (paper, pencil, notebook etc.) and read the board for instructions.
-
After taking out their materials, students may sharpen their pencil during the first few minutes of their entry into the room. If students are in need of other materials such as pencil and paper, they are to quietly and discreetly ask a neighbor. Once all students are in the class and the class time has officially begun, ALL STUDENTS ARE TO BE SEATED AND ALL STUDENTS ARE TO BE QUIET.

The teacher closing the door after the last student enters will mark the beginning of class.

Students will solve the bell ringer/problem of the day (this assignment will always be displayed on the promethean board as the students enter.)
-
Students have 5 minutes at the beginning of class to answer the bell ringer.
-
If students finish their bell ringer early, they are to remain seated and quiet
-

Students will keep their bell ringers in their possession until it is time to pass them to the paper manager.
-
Students will read the board for further instruction.

Handing In Papers:
-
When students complete assignments, they are to hold their assignments at their desk until the teacher indicates that it is time to turn them in.
-
When the teacher indicates that it is time to turn assignments in, students will pass up all papers only to the person directly in front of them. The first person in each row will have all completed assignments for the row.
-
After all papers have been collected, the paper manager will proceed to pick up the papers from the first person in each row.
-
The paper manager will place the completed assignments in the appropriate bin at the assignment table.

Group Work:
-
Students will stay seated in their groups.
-
Students will maintain their inside voices (slightly louder than a whisper)
-
Materials will be distributed and collected from only one group member (whom ever the materials manager chooses)
-
When the teacher stands at the front of the room with her hand raised that indicates that students should be seated, quiet, and waiting on further instruction.
-
Turning in the assignment is the same as when students are working individually- gives all papers to the first person.

Restroom/Emergencies:
There will be absolutely no movement out of the room during the first ten, or the last ten minutes of class.

Students will quietly raise their hands if they have an emergency.
-
Students should use the restroom at the time in which the teacher takes the entire class.
